We try to let our Mommas get comfortable and familiar before we interfere too much. We do daily weight checks during this week to ensure our puppies are growing properly.
Mommas are usually much more comfortable this week so we do start some ENS (early neurological stimulation) training with the puppies this week. This has been proven to be beneficial for improving temperaments and tolerance to handling. We continue to do daily weights and puppy's eyes begin to open this week.
The puppies are becoming a little more mobile so this week we start offering them a little more space. We also introduce our potty training crates this week and water bowls. As the puppies start to explore more we do offer them a variety of plush toys to play with.
This is the week that puppies are introduced to crate training as they are placed in crates while cleaning is being done in their space. We introduce liquid/mush food this week working up to a solid blend. Puppies are usually more interactive this week and are wanting to play. We start doing weekly weight checks this week.
Puppies are generally doing good with potty training this week so we can give them more space to play with more toys and learn new things. Our Mommas are usually starting to wean around this week and are only wanting to visit for brief periods.
This is an exciting week for our puppies. We usually move them to a larger play space offering a variety of toys such as slides, stairs, balancing toys, etc. Our puppies get to go outside this week as well as long as the weather permits. They also get to meet our other adult dogs this week. Our Mommas get to tell us when they want to be done nursing and most of them are usually done this week, but still like to play with and check on their puppies. Crates are still being used while cleaning is being done.
This week we are really working hard to make sure the puppies are ready for their new homes. We introduce some basic training for no biting and no jumping. The puppies are really starting to understand the feeding and outside routine. Regular potty breaks outside are being utilized for potty training while the potty trays are only being used for emergencies. We start crate training overnight this week and if the weather permits water play is introduced.
Vet visits are being done this week for puppy checkups and vaccines. This is the week the puppies get to go home.
Our puppy families are very important to us. We do our very best to ensure our families feel supported throughout their entire puppy journey.
